San Pablo rum, according to the write-up at Luxner News (Larry Luxner), is a brand produced and enjoyed on the island of Curaçao once the owning Netherlands company moved it from communist Cuba in the 1960's to Curacao. It is made from a base of South American sugar. San Pablo Gold rum is their aged expression, with the color presumably coming from a light resting in oak.
